Kava Kava, Piper methysticum is a member of the pepper family Piperaceae. In traditional use in Vanuatu and other Pacific Islands its said to induce sociability, feelings of peace and harmony and in large doses can be very sedative and euphoric, which is why it has long been considered an aphrodisiac.

Kava the "Pacific Elixer", acts to transport imbibers to the realm of ancestors and gods. Kava or Kawa as it is known in the Polynesian region, drinking is an important function within the islands of Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia were its ritual use involves the invocation of ancestral spirits. Kava then can be compared to other psychoactive plants used by native peoples around the world as a means to transcend normal consciousness and to reinforce and validate spiritual beliefs.

Our Kava Kava is harvested from Fiji & Vanuatu, quite possibly the homeland of Kava. Current research suggests that it may have first been domesticated less than 3,000 years ago in Vanuatu. Kava from here is reputed as one of the most potent available; it is at least four years old prior to being harvested.  It’s been used for centuries for medicinal uses to cure things like gonorrhea, menstrual problems and constipation to name a few. It’s also a good remedy for chronic pain, helping to reduce sensitivity and to relax muscles that are tensed in response to pain. Our Kava powder can be mixed with your favorite fruit drink rather then just plain water, this way you barely taste the Kava. 

 Precautions:

Kava should not be used by anyone who has any liver problems, or by anyone who is taking any drugs with known adverse effects on the liver or anyone who is a regular consumer of alcohol.

Kava should not be taken on a daily basis for more than four weeks (without the advice of a qualified professional). In addition, consumers should discontinue use if symptoms of jaundice (i.e. dark urine, yellowing of the eyes) occur.

Consumers should consult their primary healthcare provider if they have a history of liver problems or suspect possible liver problems before using kava or continuing its use
